While searching for Adoptive parents and families, it didn’t take long to realize that they we ALL asking for babies. And if they weren’t, they usually wanted to adopt people from other countries like Asia, Africa, Haiti and Russia. What about the young people in the United States?

I live in Perth, Western Australia and have an 18yr old daughter who has been cutting herself for the past 2 or 3 years now…At times, she has also been drunk and taken a lot of pills, before harming herself…She also suffers from an eating disorder, which she says, is just another way of being ‘in control’ of herself and her life. This is a very difficult thing to have to deal with, both for my daughter and for myself and the rest of our family. I’ve tried to find a professional person who I can talk to about her condition and in particular, someone who specializes in this area but to no avail…I’d like to have contact with other parents of teenagers who have this problem and who are also having to deal with similar issues as myself, such as, feelings of guilt, helplessness, fear etc: Please contact me if you are in a similar situation or if you know of anything that may be of help to us… concerned_mum

I’m 16 and have a really hard time being away from my Mum or even out of my house. I dont go to school anymore because I hate leaving and get really nervous and anxious. Whenever I go out shopping if the place gets really clustered I go straight home. I have also noticed I cant be away from my Mum. I dont have a social life anymore so i stay home on weekends to be with her and I even have troubles sleeping by myself coz I’m scared she’ll stop breathing in her sleep or something crazy. I get extremelly stressed out when she goes out with friends or to the shops coz I’m scared something will happen to her and I’ll be alone. I’m pretty sure I might have seperation anxiety. How is this treated and can teenagers even get it? I thought only young children suffered? I dont know if its relevent but I was also sexually abused during my childhood and I only live with my mother and not my father.
