Question posed by : What would most teens do if their parents suddenly banned Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber from their homes?
Suppose some parents of teens had enough of artists like Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber, and they finally decided to prohibit their kids from listening to them any longer. While the kids are in school, the parents delete all their songs off their kids’ iPods and computers, break all their CD’s by those artists, and tear down all posters on the walls of them.

What would likely happen in the home that evening when the kids got home from school? How long before the kids get over it?

The No 1 answer:

When a parent is thinking about signing their child up for camp, they may wonder what most camps do with the kids. There are a variety of summer camps for kids that can offer children of all ages an opportunity to have fun and learn new skills. Children will have a more memorable experience if parents take some time to find out what’s available locally and select a camp that best fits their child’s interests.

Some parents will look at the actual camp and its theme when choosing one for their child. A theme could be associated with the program and could be related to their child’s interest level. There will be themes around science, exploration, nature and art. There may be camps that specialize in something you’ve never even thought of.

An outdoor program will involve many outdoor activities. Children may take part in group sports, exploring nature walks and other fun activities. Most of the program will involve outdoor play space. Camp activities are typically different from regular childcare programing.

Most kids enjoy going to a special camp in the summer. Good camps provide plenty of stimulating activities for children, but also some down time. Many camps have different themes each week so to keep things fresh and interesting for the kids.

In order to provide a change of scenery as well as plenty of activities, many camps take the kids on field trips. Trips are often once a week for elementary school age kids and more often for middle schoolers. Destinations are fun places like amusement parks and beaches as well as educational places like museums. Sometimes camps are able to visit a swimming pool where kids can play in the water, or even take swimming lessons.

The daily routine of a typical camper could include a busy day. The day may involve a variety of crafts, games, science activities, outdoor play and group sports. Kids need a mix of active and sedate activities to keep their minds and their bodies engaged. As well as the routine and planned program, there may also be group projects and summer long projects. These projects could include designing or constructing something that could take the entire summer to make. Planting and caring for a garden all the way until harvest is a great idea if the camp has a location for the garden. Oftentimes an activity will present itself simply because some of the kids show an interest in an activity and a counselor makes it happen. There could be an acting club or a cooking club that the children can take part in if they desire.

When a camp is fairly new the program director and counselors choose themes and activities that they think will hold the children’s interest. The creativity and adventurousness of the staff members helps them design activities that will keep kids busy and happy day after day. A camp program creator will ensure that all activities are geared for the kids and their ages. Each activity will feature age appropriate material that is different and exciting. If a camp has been around for many years, they may have added activities over the years as they tried something new and found it successful.

Summer camps for kids can provide children the chance to keep active during their time off from school. Kids will stay active and fit by participating in fun outdoor games and sports. Kids will interact with counselors, who they look up to and see as role models, as well as peers. Both types of interaction are good for building social skills. And of course campers stay active with all kinds of fun activities, field trips, supervised free time and maybe even swimming.

Find San Diego summer camps, including field trip camps, sports specialty camps and more. All year round there are plenty of things for oc kids to do.

Being a teen is no easy thing. There is always drama of one kind or another and the end of the world is forever around the corner. However, the worst thing about being a teen is the peer pressure. It makes smart teenagers do stupid things. That is why many wonder, teenagers and abstinence: Is it a realistic option?

Sex is one of the most important decisions a teenager will make. It can decide the fate of their lives with one single act. That is why so many teens are deciding to wait, despite hearing about their friends and their own sex acts, which are usually lies. Instead of admitting they are not ready for sex, many teens will lie and say they are doing it to look good in front of friends.

Pledging programs are gaining in popularity, with teens pledging not to have sex. The different types of pledges vary with the teenagers themselves. The one thing they all agree on is that they are not ready for sex. They prefer to wait until they can appreciate it and for the right person, or even marriage.

What teens need to understand is that the benefits behind abstinence far outweigh giving into peer pressure. The easiest way for them to do this is to look around at the friends they have who are having sex. Many of them have babies or pregnancy scares, some may even have diseases, whether they know it or not.

Just one sexual encounter can create a baby. Don’t believe the myth that you can’t get pregnant the first time or any of the other myths floating around. If you have sex, you can get pregnant. That is why many teens are choosing to wait to have sex, they see what a baby does to the lives of their friends and know they want more than that for themselves.

Disease is another worry that teenagers have to think about. If you have sex with someone, you are having sex with everyone they have had sex with. So the chance of catching a disease is great, and not just the common STDs. Today you have herpes and HIV to worry about, and they stay with you forever. The only way to protect yourself from those diseases is to play it smart and wait.

Today’s teenagers have more choices and advantages than their parents and grandparents did as youths. That is why it is so important for them to realize how just one single sex act can change their life, for the worse, forever. Being abstinent does not mean you give up life, it just means that you are smarter and cooler than the ones who are throwing their future away on a few minutes of fun.

How To Prevent Cramming Prior To A Test

Most students become paranoid and anxious when they hear of an incoming exam. Not only do they have to open up their notes but they will have to endure countless hours of studying which most students do no really like to do. But, these problems can be easily solved with the right study habits. Here are some of them.

Always have the time to study. You will be facing more problems if you study a night before the exam. You will be loaded with a lot of information that your brain can only handle and you end up feeling exhausted by the time you take your exam. Learn when your exam will be and study weeks before it.

Visualize your notes while you are studying. Have a picture inside your mind at where those topics are on your notes and while you are taking your exam imagine them. Learn to be comfortable with your notes and familiarize them so that you can picture it out.

Rest is an essential factor when it comes to studying. Give yourself a break from studying once in a while but control yourself not to take too many breaks. If you feel that your body is about to give in to sleep, let it. You will feel a lot better when you wake up.

Deal with your other problems first before you tackle your notes. If you have other problems other than your looming exam, try to deal with them first or else you will be thinking of them most of the time rather than focus on your studies.

Just like what has been said above, always prepare a study plan weeks before the exam. Plan out everything from day one of week one. Always study at the same hour of the day and the same place. Use a lot of exercises that will help sharpen your memory.

If you are stuck in one question while taking the exam, do not hesitate to leave it and go on to the next. Once you are done, you can head back to the question and take the time to fully understand it and think about the answer.

Never lose your focus. There will be times that you will be tempted to go out and have some fun but save the festivities for later after you are done with your exam.

Question posed by <3 makes the world go round: Who’s harder to raise/deal with: teenage boys or teenage girls?
I am a teen girl and I want to know your opinions. You can be a parent, any kind of adult, or even a teen yourself.

I had 3 boys and 2 girls…..girls have that honor by far. The boys were a breeze. Girls also talk too much….and are ruled by hormones…which can render them impossible. Boys are so easy.

Question by : Do you think homeschooling parents of teens should be responsible for their kids social life?
Hypothetically, you’re a homeschooling parent and you have a teenager, you live in a small town and there aren’t really any clubs of groups in this town, nor is there anyone who is your teens age. The closest thing is a city twenty miles away. Would you feel responsible for driving your teen up there all time to have a social life? Theater, dance class, guitar lessons, mall, ect?

Abstinence is better than contraceptives. It saves us from the shame of unwanted pregnancy, getting involved with abusive partners and the pain of gaining a bad reputation particularly for ladies. However due to the changing times such value has often been regarded as a myth. Although aware of the benefits of teen abstinence, most teenagers today are too promiscuous to understand that having sex before marriage is not hip.

Curiosity killed the cat. Evidently it can do the same for you. Those who get involved with sex in such an early stage tend to regret their decision of hopping into bed naked without considering the consequence of their action. Reports have it that 29% of these teenagers terminate their pregnancy through abortion. Unfortunately the process is too risky for someone between 15 to 19 years of age. Some girls do not survive the operation due to infection or heart failure.

Doing it once will only give you a bad reputation. Evidently most boys aim to take advantage of naive girls who are just too dreamy in searching for a fairytale ending. Unfortunately there is turning back once this start. You would have to put a good fight just to say no to an indecent proposal.

Despite the use of contraceptives, unwanted pregnancy can still happen. Most girls who get pregnant in such an early stage tend to experience rejection and disappointment often leading to miscarriage or abortion. Unfortunately this can affect reproductive health often resulting to infertility and higher chances of cervical cancer in the future.

Most sexually active teenagers tend to have poor grades in school. They tend to skip class a lot thus leading to suspension and expulsion. Noticeably they are more conscious about how they look and their popularity rating than how they fare out in class.

However looking further into the anatomy of a promiscuous teen, you would find that they have a pitiful life. Evidently these teens yearn to be loved and wanted. However due to the social economic hurdles, there is no one there when they home from school. Parents should know better than to leave their kids alone wondering about the avenues of life. Obviously they still need guidance. Find time to listen them. You should have the patience to listen to them. Evidently they need you to discuss the difference between birds and bees.

Weigh the consequences first before you jump into the guilty pleasure. Are you sure that you are ready for it? Remember once the night is over there is no turning back. You might not get pregnant nor will you end up in marriage, however you still would experience the shame of being the hottest girl in bed and God knows where that reputation would lead you. Surely you do want your man to respect you right? Live right, act right and protect your rights. This is possible with abstinence.

For the best pro abstinence only education visit ampartnership.org, the leader in abstinence training. They have a full line of age-specific abstinenc curriculum that is extremely effective in churches, schools, organizations and in homes, and studies have shown it greatly changes teens attitudes towards sex and abstinence.

Question posed by Prince Jacquemaine: For teenagers and parents, what are your views on same sex parenting?
My son has come across quite a bit of aversion and bullying due to me and my husband being a same sex couple. I’ve also gotten nasty comments and remarks from other parents who’s sons go to my sons school about it.

I just want to know what your views are on the issue, if you think it is an issue. If you’re a teenager do you find the thought of having two same sex parents as something that would be hard to deal with? Why?

And are there any teens here who also have same sex parents?

I’m not going to report any answer here if it’s in disagreement with my situation, so you have no worries with that.

Sometimes two women or two men can do better jobs raising kids, other times they can’t. to me it doesn’t matter their sexs or sexual orientation. It matters how the parent. Yes i see how people ca be crude about it. It’s not ‘normal’ or ‘average’ for people to have two dads or two moms. Some people on the other hand are just jerks.

Common Eye Injuries In Adolescents

More than a million individuals a year in the Unites States alone experience eye injuries, but the vast majority of them are preventable and more than ten percent of them are caused by everyday household products.

All this despite the fact that most individuals would rather suffer almost any injury than lose their sight. Just think about what you would forego if you lost your eyesight. If there is a risk to your eyes at work, your employer ought to be providing you with safety glasses and making it compulsory for you to wear them on pain of dismissal., but what about at home?

Just as much supervision should be exercised at home because there are many perilous chemicals and objects used there as well. Adolescents are the main victims of eye injuries in the home for a number of reasons, but usually because they do not have much experience and they do not realize the potency of some household chemicals.

In order to teach young individuals in your household to be safe with their sight, it is best to direct by example. The first step to take is to wash your hands after utilizing chemicals which could burn or aggravate the sensitive tissue of your eyes. Among these hazardous chemicals you can include cleaning agents, bleach, solvents, fertilizers, insecticides and paint.

If you are using these types of chemicals, always read the safety directions first and then put safety spectacles on. Never spay in the direction of anyone and if you are outside, take note of which way the wind is blowing and do not let individuals stand down wind of you while you are working with chemicals.

Lots of children and adolescents love to help older people do chores, so it is up to you to take care of their safety, just like your employer attempts to take care of yours. So use safety specs, boots and gloves where fitting and provide them for anyone helping you as well.

If you are working indoors, make sure that everybody can clearly see what they are doing. If you are working in a normally dingy place like the attic, under the stairs or in the cellar, put a lead light there until you have finished the job.

If you live in an area where the sun is frequently very bright, instruct adolescents to wear protective sunglasses. It is very simple while playing tennis outdoors for example to go for the ball and inadvertently look right into the sun. This goes for several extremely lively, fast-paced sports.

Fireworks, darts, shooting and ball games are all obvious activities where caution should be exercised, but it is not the obvious sources of risk that give the biggest worries. How long do adolescents sit at computer monitors?

Computer monitors are undoubtedly better than they were, but we spend so long sitting at them. Make sure that there is some sort of shielding between the computer screen and your eyes.

If you wear spectacles anyway, have the next pair treated for use with computers or buy a UV filter to fix to your monitor. Take frequent breaks from the computer and avoid straining your eyes.

Adolescents are also at risk from cosmetics. Be sure that your teenagers understand how and where to apply eye cosmetics safely to avoid inflammation or even damage to their eyes.
