A question asked by : how does a teen pregnancy effect the parents of the teens?
not the teen parents! the parents of the teen mom/dad. how are they affected?

My chosen answer:

Answer by Amanda D
They become effected because their teen is underage and still ‘legally’ their responsibility to take care of. Plus, they feel more obligated because their underage child has had their grandchild. It lessens room in the house, dramatically changes the quietness of the house, puts an even more worse strain on finances because the infant comes first – it is harmless and unable to speak/provide food and drink for itself. The teen needs multiple hospital visits which comes at the cost of the parents. The teen (already hormonal due to pregnancy) will need even more emotional support because their world is dramatically changing (some for better but most experiences for the worst). A lot of teens can’t even handle their own child when they are born and the responsibility is put on the parents – when the teen abandons the parentage of their own child the teens parents will/feels like they need to step in to take care of the infant. The teen may also abandon the child and become rebellious – especially thinking they can carry on with their normal teen lives like going out with friends and the like. It is unfair to the parents of teens having babies unless the teen actually steps up and becomes the parent – striving to do the right thing and being as independent as possibly allowed them.

Question by JohnD: Poll for teenage girls: what do you look for in a boyfriend?
My son (seventh grade) has recently started a “dating”-type relationship with a girl at school. This is after a one-year relationship ended a few months ago. The two of them aren’t going much beyond talking on the phone and/or texting until all hours at this point, but today is their first “date” type outing – the young lady’s father is taking her to the zoo, and she invited him along.

I have conveyed my values and expectations to him, and given him my own insights into what I believe women want from a boyfriend. However, I concede that I am a bit old-fashioned and perhaps not as attuned to the relationship dynamics involved today. For example, even when I was dating his mother, texting wasn’t as prevalent … but his mom still enjoyed the quick “hey, I was just thinking about you” voice mail on her phone.

I believe certain things never go out of style … holding the door for her, being respectful, using “sir” and “ma’am” to address her parents, etc. However, I also acknowledge that some things have changed.

So … for the teenage girls out there: what do you expect from a boy you’re in a relationship with?

And … parents of teenage girls: what do you expect from a boy your daughter has a relationship with?

The No 1 answer:
