Worse, in my estimation, is that it's a sign of other, anger-related undercurrents in that relationship....perhaps more minor, less obvious, but something or series of things led up to the knife incident & it's possible, if not addressed, it could come to a 'head' again. tho it only happened once, that’s a horrible thing to happen. Chasing anyone around with a knife is unacceptable behavior from anyone. It is irresponsible and ignorant not to mention cruel and unusual. Something should have been done about it when it happened or shortly thereafter. Not talking about it again doesn't make it okay. The parent was wrong and acted in a dangerous and threatening manner. It will leave an emotional scar on the child for the rest of their life. The teenager needs to confront the situation by making it known, first of all and then getting counseling to fully understand what and why it happened.
