If your kids can keep there grades up (atleast an A-), do you ever let them take a day off school, just because?

I’m just curious. Thanks. =]
I agree Alisha.
In my high school, there are plenty of days where we do absolutely nothing in class and its not even worth going for.

No my parents do not!
I take enough time off ill as it is
If any parents do I just want you to know. I don’t like you. I make straight A’s and your filthy kid gets to get off because he/she wants to?
I am in school, and I know for a fact that my mom would never let me take a day off from school because I got good grades. That is what is expected from me, and that is how I was raised. So, no I don’t get a day off just because.
sometimes if my mom feels that i really really need the day off (stress, tired or anything like that) she’ll let me. but she hasn’t let me off for no reason before. only on special occasions has she let me take the day off
i’m a senior in high school and my friend skips school every now and then maybe three times a month or so but her parents dont care because she has straight a’s and she always makes sure the absenses get excused.
so long as they’re not skipping on test days or days important things are due i’d say its ok.
sometimes us kids are really tired in the morning or we just really dont want to go to school one day or a lot of times we’re doing absolutely nothing in all of our classes that week so its incredibly boring.
i wouldn’t get in a habit of allowing it to often though or else they’ll skip with or without your permission and then things will get bad.
just make sure you excuse the absense.
Absolutely! I’d let my daughter take a day off just because as long as she maintained her best (which is usually mostly A’s and a few B’s). I especially like her taking a day off to help with christmas shopping and wrapping in early december or when I plan on going school clothes shopping for warmer months in march or april.
when it was my birthday or a pointless half day my mom would usually let me. then again this was in grade school when it really didnt matter. i would check the kids test schedule before agreeing if they had one.
Well I’m a teen, not a parent but I can still answer because I know my parents rules.
and the answer is NO! That is wrong. How do you think they GOT the A-? BY GOING TO SCHOOL AND LEARNING! DO ditching school would be stupid. the grades would go down. Not to mention that tests/quizes/class work needs to be made up.
no my parents force me even if its days were we watch team america or other films we shouldn’t be watching
ya thats fine or if i dont wanna go on a field trip
Yes school can suck, but my mom wouldn’t let me take a day off a school unless I was sick enough or we did something important like county band or the renissance fair the night before.
once my daughter is in her teens and if she has all A’s or mostly A’s and one or two B’s then maybe i would because teens to sometimes just need a day just like adults do things can be going on at school that they need a day to get away from and there is nothing important going on that day then yeah maybe i would but we’ll cross that bridge when it comes as she is not even born yet
I think that if they’re keeping their grades up
then let them skip a day every now and then, its a nice little break and keeps you from getting burnt out
Stop asking this!!!!!!!!! OMG, IT’S LIKE, YA KNOW? OMG!
I did take a week off school to go to Bulgaria, and in the past i have had 1 or 2 days off, becaus my mom knows that even if my grades drop, i will get them back up.
After that week off (that was this year), I had 3 C’s on my progress report. I ended the first semester with one C+, in my hardest class, honors bioogy. Now, i brought that C up to a B, and my progress report has I think 3 Bs and the rest As. My point is, my mom trusts me enough to know that I don’t want to do bad in school any less than she wants me not to (did that make sense?). My lowest grade in middle school was one B-, which i got in health, and so far my lowest high school grade is a C+. I’ve always had a B/A average, so I don’t plan on changing that.
So, yes, my parents do let me skip once in awhile.
well im a teen, not a parent, but ill tell you what my mom lets me do.
she lets me skip school a lot actually. if im really tired or something, i just dont have to go. most of the time i get someone to bring me my homework anyway, so its not like i really miss out.
It’s true, some days are totally useless.
Now, I’m not a parent, but I am a teenager. I’ve got straight A’s, but my mom doesn’t let me take a day off school. And it’s not that I really want a day off, I mean, I’m havin’ a good time at school, helping the Freshmen (I’m a Junior). I’m member of the School Council, which is pretty awesome.
Sure, I’ve got my moments where I would rather take a day off, isn’t that what makes us human? =)
My parents allow me one “skip-day” towards the end of the year if I have been getting good grades and haven’t missed that many days.
This year I won’t take one though because if I miss less than 3 days I don’t have to take any of my end of the year finals
im a freshman w\ a 98 gpa w\ 10th grade math and sci so yea my mom does let me sometime but i rarely miss school anyways
think of it as would you ever call into work “sick” just because if you can they should be able to
