Claire asked:
I want to take my two children (a boy and a girl) on holiday this summer as it may be the last time before my daughter goes to university. We haven’t got much money and want to go somewhere in the south of England, but how on earth do I keep two teenagers amused?! I am at least grateful that they are willing to consider coming away with me. I will be happy reading a book and relaxing and we can eat simply but I **** camping, so any ideas welcome!

Start with having a conversation with them about your concern. We can give you tons of ideas, like find books for them, magazines, games, free city attractions, hobbies, but nothing will be better than their own choices. So talk with them in a very open way and let them that will be helpful to make a list about things that each of them like to do or will like to do during their the time off in the trip. With planification and options how can you go wrong? Good luck with your teens & enjoy your vacation.
Why not go to a city? like london?
its got loads to do so im sure you can keep the two of them entertained.
seriously try that. You wouldnt have to worry about travelling down there.
Me and my friends have just booked a trip to london for june and its costing us ?2 each there and back!
so you’ll only have to worry about accomadation, and there’s some alright priced places somewhere there. Me and my boyfriend stayed in a backpackers hostel last time.
Hopefully i’ve not been too useless
Have you tried contacting Small Families, the tour operator who specialise only in providing holidays for single parents.
Small Families use a very pleasant hotel complex in Torquay (don’t worry, not a tent in sight!). Groups are usually around 10 single parents (mums and dads) + children, so the children have instant new friends and the parents have instant adult company. The hotel has an extensive games room, indoor & outdoor pools and full evening entertainment programme, (all you need then is the weather!). Website is
