My oldest daughter recently turned 13 and well – I don’t know how to handle it anymore. She is always in a mood, either angry or crying about the most insignificant things. I’ve tried to be patient – but at the moment my home has turned into a war. She is setting a bad example for her two younger siblings. Is this even normal? What’s going on with her and how can I change/help her?

You have to get her to talk, problems are solved from the source of the problem. You have to find out what is irritating her, making her angry or cry, be patient with her if the situation needs but you’ll have to find out why to help/change her.

A question from : Is this section supposed to be for parents of adolescents or adolescents to discuss parenting?
As most of you probably know, this section of yahoo answers is mostly used by teens to discuss pregnancy and parenting, not parents discussing parenting their teens.
I wonder if the original intent of this section was for questions about parenting adolescents, rather than the other way around.

The other day these two teenage boys got out of the car with their parent and the boys were like 16 and 17. What do you guys think? most teens hang out with friends and such but these boys were following their parents into the restaurant like little kids. Is that weird?

I will be 17 on Thursday and I am 6 weeks pregnant. My parents are very upset with me but they will help me. They said my boyfriend should have used a condom but I told them I did not want him to use one because sex feels so much better without one. My boyfriend and I love each other and we are keeping our baby and getting married next year as soon as I turn 18. How long before my parents are no longer upset and disappointed with me?

see, my parents don’t have influence whatsoever on my younger brother, he’s 14. usually i would keep out things like this, i’m not his mom and don’t really care. but seeing as how my parents are powerless over anything he does, they are more like his “slaves”, i figured i would ask for advice from anonymous people here b/c they are worried about them and are asking for my help.
he’s always been a pretty good kid, but this year he seemed to have made a complete 360 on his personality. he is extremely aggressive, and does not hesitate to hit or curse out anyone if they cross him, i mean ANYBODY. my mom says she found condoms in his bookbag and each condom had a girl’s name on it, and the other day found him secretly making out with a girl in somewhere. he’s ok in school i guess, and most of the time we get along well, but he has lashed out at me as well, and for the stupidest things.
he also has foul language and i have heard him cursing out girls over the phone “playfully”
i think it’s b/c of where we were raised, it seems to have had a bigger impact on him than on me. i guess my question is, do u think he is behaving normally, and my parents are over- reacting? or should they start helping him in some way?
though he gets fairly good grades, my parents have had to go to school b/c he either got into a fight or cursed out a teacher
he’s not on drugs/steroids, he’s too dumb to know where to get them, and he has better sense than that

would you be mad if you found out your teenager got into a fight at school (but didn’t actually start the fight just self- defended her/his self ) but was also part of the reason why the fight even happend?

They would get in trouble for aggravating someone, but quite happy they didn’t throw the first punch..I’ve taught my kids to never throw the first punch…

about 7 hours total on the weekend on average, more or less.
pretty much no time on the weekdays.
I enjoy it, I have no problem with my parents or family.
