I would like some logical, rational and sensible ways to deal with the issues that deal with teenagers and sex/dating, this includes, discussion, contraception, young love, giving your children mutual respect etc. How would you like your parents to act in regards to these matters? If they acted a certain way would you be more or less likely to be interested in ***? And if you are a parent, especially with an older child, how did you deal with these situations when they came up?

How come some parents & fellow teenagers freak out when they hear 15-year-olds having sex? As a teenager or during adolescence, you develop sexual feelings, desires, and sexual physical characteristics. Being a teenager is all about sexual development, I don’t see what’s so wrong with teens having sex or why people act so surprised? I don’t see why teens (girls especially) are shunned or looked down upon for having sex early?

just wondering because many teens have sex at a very early age nowadays (well, at least that’s what I heard people say), and some parents think it’s alright since they reason that their children will do it anyway, but some parents believe that their children should wait till they’re old enough to do it.

I’m curious to know how many people take the abstinence approach vs. safety approach, etc. When did you first initiate talks about the ramifications of being sexually active with your child?
Just to clarify, I’m not asking for advice, just asking what people personally did with their kids.

Recently I read a study that suggests that fathers should talk to their daughters about sex. The study also suggested that parents should not be shy to be nude in front of their children. Daughters in particular should learn about sex, and male organs from their dad. Or else the study warned that they would learn it in more risky environments..
